Event Details
The Lakota Dakota Nakota Language Summit was created in 2008 to unite the Oceti Sakowin (Lakota Dakota Nakota Oyate or Great Sioux Nation) in our efforts to revitalize our language by sharing support, teaching and learning resources, materials, methods, strategies and technologies that can be used to successfully create new language speakers.
Since the founding of the summit, many tribes from across the United States and Canada have participated to both share their efforts with their own languages and/or learn to build a program for the revitalization of their language. Indigenous peoples have come from as far away as Hawaii and New Zealand
